Dirty Laundry

15th to the 17th June

PV 16th 5-8pm 2023

1 Acorn Parade

London SE152TZ

AMP Gallery

Our second exhibition as a collective.

Participating artists: Ramah Alhusseini, Lucrezia Abatzoglu, Kate Kelly, Danyinh Chen, Maggie Shafran, Jennan Huang, Xingxing Hu.

Our work explores various overlapping themes, including identity, objects, sexuality, the notion of belonging, and fractured moments. Our collective uses diverse source material and theoretical influence within our practices, including self-reflection, auto theory, filmic moments, and conversations. We explore and recognizing though observation the human condition through our use of figures and objects.

Dirty Laundry explores an expanded notion of painting to examine narratives alongside play. We question our relationship within modern society. Using painting, drawing, ceramics and sound, we explore psychological consciences and question the subconscious actions and thoughts.

An overview:

I think the space itself was really nice and a great size, but the location wasn't great only because it was in a residential area with very low to almost no foot traffic, unless you knew about the exhibition, you wont come across it.

All participating artists were hands on this time during the set up. We took everyones options and thoughts in to consideration. We tried to create a story, purposely placing each artwork to help lead to the next piece, this was a 100% a group effort.

The timing was tough, it was right after we ended Unit 2 and right before our final MA show, but regardless i think it was successful.
